3, 4, 7: Mrs. Firth introduced John Keats and then we read "La Belle Dame Sans Merci" together in preparation for our Romantic Period Unit Exam on Tuesday, May 1. We then had a class discussion about what the article got right and wrong, and how it relates to the archetype of the Byronic Hero. Our Romantic Period Unit Exam is scheduled for either Tuesday, May 1 (4th) or Wednesday, May 2 (3rd & 7th). All classes: We read the Byron poem "So We'll Go No More a-Roving" and the article "Teaching Men to Be Emotionally Honest". We then had a class discussion about what the article got right and wrong, and how it relates to the archetype of the Byronic Hero.
2, 6: No vocab this week due to scheduled walk-out on Friday. We got into small groups around our Chromebooks, logged into Verge, and finished reading 3 poems by Byron and 1 poem about him. All students read the Byron poems and annotations on Genius.com (links and instructions) within Verge. We took a quiz at the end of the class via Verge about the 4 poems in the folder. All absent students must take the quiz in Verge by 5:00pm on Friday, April 20.
