We spent most of Thursday and Friday watching your project videos. On Friday, we took the Hamlet Act 5 Quiz. ANNOUNCEMENT: Our final exam is mandatory and is worth 10%. It is a 100-question multiple-choice test and the study guide is available here. 2, 3, 4, 7: We finished reading Hamlet in its entirety, and acted out the finale scene with crowns, swords, goblets, everything. The study guides for Act 4 and Act 5 are due tomorrow if you didn't turn them in already. We also watched the beginning of Act 5 in the 2000 Hamlet adaptation starring Ethan Hawke (trailer below). 5: We did not finish reading Hamlet in its entirety because of the fire drill. Also: Projects are DUE TOMORROW and need to be either on a jump drive or on You Tube (email link to Mrs. Firth in advance). All classes: THE PROJECT DUE DATE IS POSTPONED TO THURSDAY, DECEMBER 15. We talked about various challenges facing the final exam schedule; Mrs. Firth will announce an official decision about our final tomorrow. We finished reading V.i of Hamlet and will finish Act V tomorrow.
All classes: Mrs. Firth introduced the concept of Nihilism, and we read through roughly the "Alas, Poor Yorick" speech in V.i.
Nota Bene: THE FINAL EXAM STUDY GUIDE IS POSTED HERE. 2: We finished reading Act IV, completed the Act IV study guide, and took the Act IV quiz. Class was abbreviated due to the Holiday Concert Assembly. 3, 5: We took the Act IV quiz and watched the Kate Winslet performance of Ophelia's mad scene (below). 4: We went to the computer lab and created Hamlet memes with various levels of success, which we will continue to roast on Monday. 7: We watched the Kate Winslet performance of Ophelia's mad scene (below), then roasted 4th period's memes and created a Hamlet twitter. 2: No class due to senior breakfast.
3: We finished reading Act IV and will take the Act IV quiz tomorrow. 4: We finished reading Act IV, took the Act IV quiz, and just barely began discussing the Jungian classification of Hamlet's characters. 5: We finished reading Act IV, and came very close to finishing the Act IV study guide. 7: We finished reading Act IV and will take the Act IV quiz tomorrow. All classes: We continued to read Act IV and made it through IV.v. We also answered questions on our Act IV study guide.
All classes: Busy day. We finished Act III of Hamlet, turned in our Act 2 and Act 3 Study Guides, took a quiz over Act III, assigned parts for Act IV, received Act IV and Act V study guides, and started to read Act IV. Whew!
