2, 6: We went over the last three words of Restoration Vocab #1 in preparation for our quiz tomorrow. We finished reading "To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time" before taking a pop quiz over Donne and the Cavalier Poets. Then Mrs. Firth assigned groups and topics for the Plague & Fire Mini Research Project, which will be due in class on Tuesday, February 2.

Then Mrs. Firth assigned groups and topics for the Plague & Fire Mini Research Project, which will be due in class on Tuesday, February 2. 2, 6: We went over words 9-12 of Restoration Vocab #1. We read "To His Coy Mistress" and answered questions about it. Questions were turned in at the end of class.

We went on to watch a clip from Dead Poets Society before reading "To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time." All classes: We went over words 5-9 of Restoration Vocab #1. Then Mrs. Firth finally finished what was, frankly, a riveting and rather inspired lecture about The Restoration/Neoclassical/Enlightenment Period.
All classes: We went over the first four words of Restoration Vocab #1. Then Mrs. Firth got through about half of what was, frankly, a riveting and rather inspired lecture about The Restoration/Neoclassical/Enlightenment Period.
Because of inclement weather, only 2nd and 4th period met. We decided to scrap Donne's Holy Sonnet X and XIV from the docket, and we'll pick up on Monday with the intro to the Restoration Period.
2, 6: We finished the comprehension questions about "The Flea" and turned them in. We then read John Donne's "Song" as a class and annotated it on our worksheets.

3, 4, 7: We read John Donne's "The Flea," and Mrs. Firth demonstrated how students should annotate their poems in the future. Then she split the class into small groups and asked them each to discuss and answer a single comprehension question about the poem. All classes: Mrs. Firth lectured about John Donne's life and work. 2nd and 4th period received copies of Donne's "The Flea," but the other classes will receive it first thing tomorrow.
